Welcome to my workbench.
Jes Zurell Paragone saturates her canvases with abstract interpretations of mood, color, and light. She completed her BFA in painting at Syracuse University’s School of Visual and Performing Arts in 2008, and her MA in Art Criticism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in 2011. Her portfolio ranges from large-scale paintings to video and sound installation pieces, and has shown in galleries across New York and Connecticut, while she has written art and music reviews for the Syracuse New Times (Syracuse, NY), The Post-Standard (Syracuse, NY), and the Charleston Post & Courier (Charleston, SC), and served as the art critic for Today’s CNY Woman Magazine (2009-2010) and for SOCO Magazine (2012). Zurell’s work shown in the summer of 2015 reflects conflicting sensations of turbulence and serenity, of lightness and weight, inspired by extreme desert landscapes. It is an exploration of creating something – color, vision, luminescence – from nothing.
